A short post! Bonjouk is a small cafe located inside the Centro in the Glen just opposite David Jones. I’ve been there a few times by now – mostly because it’s a favourite of my piano teacher with whom I have the occasional catch up coffee. It’s spacious and quite a nice place to sit and enjoy the air conditioning especially like days like today (with our fourth day of above 40 temperatures I’d consider going into a shopping centre just for the air con…).
On all the occasions I’ve been here I’ve felt this place should be higher rating than it is – there are quite a few negative remarks on urbanspoon. Luckily it doesn’t seem to be affecting its popularity.
This occasion I had the corn fritters because I was on my way to a one year old’s birthday party with afternoon tea. They were actually surprisingly good, served with a poached egg, rocket, sausages and a tomato chutney. The chutney could have had a bit more kick but the egg was nicely gooey inside.
In general I think their restaurant food is pretty good – wouldn’t come specifically for their coffee/chais but Bonjouk has a nice seating area and has a good atmosphere for a catch up.
Bonjouk is also open for dinner on Thursdays and Fridays – I guess there are more evening shoppers on Thursday and Friday than I would have imagined!
