Haven’t been posting for ages and even urbanspoon has changed name. Before they did, they sent me a sticker for urbanspoon which is now on my dog’s bowl:)
Anyway. We went to the Green at St Columbs in Hawthorn for brunch today. This place seems great for gatherings. Easy parking and great atmosphere. We were seated right next to the heater so I wonder if the other seats might get a bit cold especially with the weather we’ve been having lately.
I had the Spanish scrambled eggs which were gigantic. Mounds of egg with tomato, chorizo and feta. A great combination. Their soy latte was excellent as well.
My friends had even heavier dishes for breakfast with the honeycomb hot cakes, enchanted broccolini and salmon gnocchi (a breakfast dish of course). The broccolini dish was interesting and despite the chickpea mash looking less than appetising, the rest of the dish reminded us of a forest with surrounding scrub and landscape.
If you’ve ever been to the snack free isle of supermarkets, I think you’ll understand when I say I had to be very very disciplined not to pick up a quince muffin on the way out. Their baked goodies are placed strategically in front of even the eftpos machine so watch it – those bakery treats are calling for you.
