Mr Hive Lunch in the Lounge Room in Crown Casino

We actually weren’t planning to eat at Mr Hive for lunch.  In fact, I didn’t even know they offered lunch.  They do, hence the post, but they only offer it in their Lounge Room rather than the main body of the restaurant.  No matter, quite a few other diners chose to have their meal here and the seating was quite comfortable.

The one thing that struck me was that the prices were actually pretty cheap.  I thought everything would have small portions given the cost of dinner here is on the higher end but all the items we ordered were of decent size.

My friend and I opted for the chickpea fritters.  As with my previous experience with Mr Hive, everything on the menu isn’t quite as it seems – the fritters came out as fingers and whilst not quite what we had expected, they were quite nice and went well with the accompanying trail mix after slathering it with the mayonnaise.

Two had the wagyu burger and enjoyed it quite a bit.

The club sandwich looked pretty classy too.

The foie gras and chicken liver parfait is a favourite of my friend (also available for dinner) so she happily ate that for lunch too.

For the table, we ordered some wedges which were the best I’ve had in a while.  Thick and chunky but crispy on the outside.  The accompanying small jars of various sauces made it seem like wedges belong with high tea menus.

The prices here for lunch are fantastic for a place so close to the carpark and in Crown Casino.  I’d recommend coming here for the wedges alone but seriously now, the rest of the dishes we had were pretty good too. Just remember fritters turn into fingers at Mr Hive.
