I love when I find a place like Tanner’s Swiss Patisserie. It is close and has always been there but I have never tried it until now. This Swiss Patisserie has been on Blackburn Road opposite Royal Garden for as long as I remember. Now I’ve finally tried it and know it’s good – I just hope I have enough self restraint to not indulge too many times!
The shop itself is quite small and there’s a small selection of savoury pies as well as the usual sweet treats and breads. It was a weekday and still I had to line up to get my order – clearly many local people are in the know!
I tried the blueberry almond tart – beautifully short, crumbly pastry with a lovely centre of juicy blueberries and almond filling. I shared one with my friend – possibly if I had attempted to finish the whole thing it would have been a tad too sweet.
I also chose an almond and raisin loaf to share among friends. A lovely afternoon treat that can be considered not too rich!
When you’re looking for your next afternoon treat, look for Tanner’s – the red and white checkered store on Blackburn Road. You won’t be disappointed.
