I’ve been to The Grand before for a lovely dinner and liked it very much. Little did I know that their pub section is actually rather popular – I’m glad we went there for lunch this time. The pub section is much more laid back and features an outdoor seating area which would probably have been nicer had it not been 37 degrees outside. Our main draw to the Grand this time was for their wagyu burgers. So nearly all of us ordered one each and fearing that wouldn’t be enough (well…. of course not really) we also ordered some appetisers to share.
The mussels were fantastic – lovely tomato based sauce served with dipping bread.
We chose the artichoke pizza which was surprisingly nice – I might have actually come here two years ago following the Herald Sun Good Food app and had this pizza before actually (shame on me for not starring this restaurant back then – we enjoyed “that time we had pizza in Richmond somewhere” immensely)
The gnocchi chips were fantastic – very rich but went well with the accompanying napoli. Yes, and since it’s in the pub section, one must have an accompanying drink to go with the meal here.
On to the main feature: the burgers. There’s only three to choose from and one is a veggie burger – nearly all of us had the wagyu cheese burger and it really didn’t disappoint. The patty was very moist and the sauce was tangy enough to cut through all the fatty goodness. I think this is the best burger I’ve had for a while. I normally like Grill’d but the patty at the Grand was so much better.
The more expensive version is the royale beef burger which comes with truffle aiole and a slice of bacon.
The only sour note is I forgot to use my entertainment card! Oh well. I liked that burger. I’ll be back no doubt – this time with a discount:)
